Check out our top tips below for finding the best heating option to suit your home.

Oil

As the name suggests, an oil heater uses oil to provide long-lasting heat. While generally slower to heat up compared to fan-based heaters, oil heaters retain heat for much longer and can provide long-lasting warmth making them an ideal option for bathrooms, bedrooms, and living rooms.

Micathermic

Micathermic heaters are electric heaters which utilise both radiant and convection heat. The heating element is encased in thin sheets of mica which heat the room quickly. They are versatile in that they can be portable or mounted to a wall, are usually thinner than other types of heaters, and heat rooms fast while bringing dryness to larger spaces. Micothermic heaters are a great option for hallways, bedrooms, and living spaces.

Convection

In convection heating, air is heated when it comes into contact with hot surfaces in the heater. Generally, people feel warmer faster because of the higher air temperature which raises quicker than other heating options. Convection heaters heat a room from the top down so if your home has high ceilings, it will take longer for your room to feel warm. This type of heating option is great for medium to large sized rooms.

Fan

Fan heaters are small, lightweight and a great option to deliver a quick blast of warmth. Working by using a fan to pass air over the internal heat source and then circulating the warm air into the room, fan heaters are compact in size making them ideal as a personal heater in bedrooms, studies, or smaller rooms.

Tip: When selecting a fan heater, look for a higher wattage and a thermostat. You’ll get to a comfortable temperature quickly without wasting energy.

Ceramic

Similar to fan heaters, ceramic heaters deliver warmth fast through the heating of ceramic fins which are blown out by the fan. Although these types of heaters don’t create high heat levels, ceramic heaters provide a focused, comfortable level of heat in a particular direction. Ceramic heaters are ideal for areas such as small offices, bedrooms, or sunrooms.

Each home is different, and the right heater depends on the size and shape of the space you want to heat and your lifestyle.
